Before MoonShadow and MoonLight became such a fast-growing boutique, our owner and primary designer, Angela, experienced the spark of fulfillment seeing someone smile when they received something made just for them. Her creative journey began in the 1970s, long before custom apparel was mainstream, when she hosted lively T-Shirt Parties.
“I’d bring a sample of each design, and guests would choose their favorite in the color and size they wanted. Orders were placed on the spot, and a local printer handled the rest. People loved it, and so did I.”
During this time, life carried Angela in many new directions, from marriage to raising a son and building a successful corporate career. However, that desire to create never left. After COVID, Angela felt something change. She needed a creative outlet rooted in something she could build from home that would bring delight to others. That calling led her back to designing eco-conscious, made-to-order pieces that everyone could share.
Little by little, Angela created more pieces, finding her artistic voice in everything from ethically sourced T-shirts to customizable mugs. What had the greatest impact on building an eco-conscious company was watching the Netflix documentary Buy Now: The Shopping Conspiracy.
“The amount of waste was staggering,” Angela recalls. “Imagine what a difference could be made if the 100 billion garments manufactured annually could be recycled or reduced in some way. To think 5 billion pounds of waste reaches our U.S. landfills alone.”
Angela decided to make MoonShadow and MoonLight different. Instead of falling into the fast-fashion trap with mountains of unworn garments and rivers of discarded fabric, her company would focus on what matters by blending beautiful products with sustainability systems.
Behind every piece created at MoonShadow and MoonLight is a commitment to do better for the planet and the people. We use responsible manufacturing practices with water-based inks and partner only with providers who share our belief that small businesses can lead with integrity. All our designs are made-to-order, and we use recycled and efficient packaging to minimize waste.
More importantly, we place a high value on empowering the community that Angela and the rest of the team have spent years building. We encourage recycling, upcycling, and even small DIY projects that extend the use of the creative pieces we sell. That is a big reason why we provide reusable items like mugs, water bottles, and tumblers, because they offer sustainable alternatives to single-use products.

Everything is made-to-order! Nothing is produced at MoonShadow and MoonLight until a customer requests it. Whether that’s a hoodie capturing an inside joke, a mug with a message only one person might understand, or a custom design for the holiday shopper, we take the time to do it right.
Most orders arrive within 8–10 days, though deliveries to Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. Territories may take 5–12 additional business days. During the holiday season, please allow extra time for production and shipping.
