For us, Wild & Free isn't just a style. It's a state of mind.
Our story actually began long before MoonShadow & MoonLight had a name.
As owner and designer, I grew up in the 1960s and '70s—a time of wildflowers, bell-bottom jeans, platform shoes, great music, changing ideas, and a generation learning to find our own way.
Both of my parents worked, as they did in many families for the first time, which meant kids often had a lot more independence than generations before them.
I remember it well.
"We figured things out. We explored. We made mistakes. We became independent. Looking back, I think I was always a little wild, very free, and definitely a little sassy."
That spirit never really went away.
And today, it's at the heart of MoonShadow & MoonLight.
Where It All Began
My creative journey started in the 1970s, long before online shopping, print-on-demand, or personalized apparel became part of everyday life.
I hosted T-Shirt Parties, bringing samples of different designs for people to see and feel.
"I'd bring a sample of each design, and everyone could choose their favorite in the color and size they wanted. Orders were placed right there, and a local printer handled the printing. People loved choosing something that felt like them—and I loved being part of it."
Life eventually took over. I ended up going in other directions—marriage, raising my son, college, and a long corporate career.
But the creative part of never disappeared.
Neither did that teenager who loved wildflowers, bell bottoms, music, individuality, and doing things a little differently. Decades later, I found my way back.
Coming Full Circle
After COVID, I realized how much I missed creating.
I wanted something that wasn't about corporate meetings, deadlines, or climbing another rung on a ladder. I wanted to build something joyful—something that allowed people to express who they were through the things they wore, carried, displayed, and gave to others.
In many ways, I had come full circle.
From T-Shirt Parties in the 1970s to designing apparel and gifts decades later, the idea was surprisingly similar:
Find something you love. Make it your own. Wear it because it feels like YOU.
MoonShadow & MoonLight became my creative home.
And over time, something else became clear.
The brand wasn't simply about selling T-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, jewelry, or gifts.
It was about creating and celebrating the person choosing them. We don't just sell apparel and gifts. We sell a feeling: Freedom, Self-expression, Joy, & Adventure.
What Does It Mean to Be Wild & Free?
Being Wild & Free doesn't mean you have to live in a van, climb mountains, or spend every weekend at a music festival. Although we're perfectly happy if you do.
To us, being Wild & Free means having the confidence to be yourself.
- It's dancing in the kitchen when your favorite song comes on.
- Stopping to admire the wildflowers.
- Taking the scenic route.
- Laughing a little too loudly.
- Wearing something simply because it makes you happy.
- Choosing comfort over somebody else's idea of perfection.
- Trying something new at 25—or 65.
- And occasionally adding just enough sass to keep life interesting.
There isn't an age limit on freedom, self-expression, joy, & adventure.
And there certainly isn't one on being yourself.

Today, MoonShadow & MoonLight creates apparel and gifts for the Wild & Free Spirit.
Our collections are inspired by boho style, nature, wildflowers, humor, adventure, animal protection, self-expression, comfort, and those little reminders that life doesn't always need to be taken quite so seriously.

- Others simply feel like you.
- That's the point.
We believe the things you surround yourself with should bring a little personality into your everyday life.

Creating With Intention
While our personality may be Wild & Free, we're thoughtful about how our products are created.
Our apparel and many of our gifts are made-to-order, meaning they're produced when you choose them rather than manufactured in huge quantities hoping someone eventually buys them.
That helps us offer more designs and choices while reducing unnecessary inventory and waste. This was an intentional, sustainable model after watching the Netflix's documentary, "Buy Now! The Shopping Conspiracy". If you haven't seen it, it's a real eye opener.
We also continue to encourage recycling, repurposing, and upcycling whenever possible. A well-loved T-shirt doesn't necessarily belong in the trash—it might have another chapter waiting for it.
For us, responsible choices don't have to become the entire personality of our brand.
It is simply part of doing business with intention.

Most importantly, behind this website is a real person who still gets excited when a new design comes together.
Maybe that's because the girl from the 1970s never completely disappeared. She just traded her T-Shirt Parties for an online shop.
The bell bottoms may come and go. The platform shoes might occasionally make a comeback.
